About Us
Open Door Baptist Church Is Staying On the Wall!
In Nehemiah chapter six, we find that the people of Jerusalem
had, so far, completed building the wall around the city. In
verse one, the enemies of Israel found out about the completion
of the wall and decided to test the faithfulness of Nehemiah.
They began by asking him to come down off the wall into the
valley of Ono for some, ”dialogue”. The valley of Ono
represents compromise.
So, some may say! But this is exactly what our enemy, Satan,
tries to get God’s people to do every day. He tries to get them
to compromise. When God’s people build a wall in their lives,
mark it down Satan will try to get them to come down into the
valley of Ono.
Compromise is all around us. It comes in every shape and size.
It looks appealing. It may even come wrapped up in some form of
godliness. Mark it down; the Devil wants us to compromise. He
wants us to compromise our beliefs and our children’s future. He
wants us to compromise our stand on the Bible and our standards
of holiness. He wants us to compromise as to not “offend” those
around us.
Walls are meant for our protection and security. We must not
come down!
Nehemiah had a great
work going for the Lord. The people were excited. The city of
Jerusalem was being rebuilt. However, just as there were those
who were critical of the work and critical of Nehemiah, there
will always be those critical of us and our work but we must
stay on the wall ! To come down now would be to jeopardize the
work! Nehemiah would not come down. So to, like Nehemiah, should
we be. This is what Open Door Baptist Church wants to be – a
people busy doing God’s work. There is too much at stake. There
is too much to do. We are STAYING ON THE WALL!
